Help
WOOOW What happened to the old Pastebin?
Last week (Feb 10th, 2010) Pastebin.com exchanged owners. We are proud to present to you Pastebin v2! It is a whole new site under the skin, all source code is written from scratch, a whole new custom layout is build, and a bunch of extra features have been added. Also the new site is running on far superior hardware, and due to its new programming infrastructure, there is way more possible when it comes to creating new features.
Our goal was to give Pastebin a more modern look and a more user-friendly interface. The site should be fully functional, but there are still a lot of new features on our to-do list. If you find any bugs, please be sure to tell us about it. Also if you would like to see certain features build-into the site, tell us, and we will seriously consider building them.

What is Pastebin.com all about?
Pastebin.com is a website where you can store text for a certain period of time. The website is mainly used by programmers to store pieces of sources code or configuration information, but anyone is more than welcome to paste any type of text. The idea behind the site is to make it more convenient for people to share large amounts of text online. Users have the ability to make private pastings, so they are only visible to the people they choose to share their links with.
Is there an API?
There sure is, check out
our API page.
How can I find my old pastebin links?
Check out our
links emailer.
Can I get the Pastebin source code?
Yes, but not at this time. We are fixing all the bugs, and adding some more features. We expect the source to be available in April 2010.
Who can see my pastes?
If you make a public paste (public by default), your paste will show up for everybody on the site at the top of the menu on the left. Anyone is able to click on your pastes, however, you are able to make your pastes private. Also search engines will only index public pastes, not private ones.
Help, I need a certain paste removed
The creator of pastes can always remove the paste whenever he or she feels like it by clicking the 'delete' link on the right side of a paste. We remember who pasted a paste by storing a cookie on the creators computer. If you empty your browsers cache, the cookie will be removed, and the removal link will disappear. If you feel a certain paste should not be online, or when it contains personal data that should not be shared with others, you can tell us about it by clicking the 'report abuse' button on the paste page. Be sure to tell use why you want a paste to be removed.
What is the max paste size?
We allow pastes to be made up to 1024000 Bytes, or 1 Megabytes. This is should be enough for almost any script, and it prevents people from jamming our servers.
For which languages do you offer Syntax highlighting?
What's a private pastebin and how do I get one?
You get a private pastebin simply by thinking up a domain name no-one else is using, e.g.
http://mike123.pastebin.com or
http://this-is-my.pastebin.com. Pastes made into a subdomain only show up on that domain, making it easy for you to collaborate without the 'noise' of the regular service at http://pastebin.com. All you need to do is change the web address in your browser to access a private pastebin, or you can simply enter the domain you'd like below.
Please note that there is no password protection - subdomains are accessible to anyone who knows the domain name you've chosen, but we do not publish a list of domains used.
If you want your paste to be invisible to others, simply select the 'Private' option when you create a paste.

Acceptable Use Policy
Broadly speaking, the site was created to help programmers. Any paste or usage pattern not related to that goal which results in unusually high traffic will be flagged for investigation. Your paste may be deleted and your IP blocked. In particular, please do not paste email lists, password lists or personal information. The "report abuse" feature can be used to flag such pastes and they will be deleted. Do not aggressively spider the site. Exceptions can be arranged, contact me to discuss. If you can access pastebin.com from one location, but not another, it's likely your IP address has been blocked for violating this policy. Get in touch and the block can be lifted.
